CRACK IN THE WORLD

Journal Entry: Sat Apr 19, 2008, 10:26 PM
I stumbled onto this little gem and wow!

This is a flick that was waaaaaay ahead of its time and the first of the disaster epics that would sweep across theaters in the 70's. At its core it is also a nice chunk of science fiction that shows not all of the genra has to take place in the vast ocean of space, but rather, just below your feet!

Unfortunately, its a shame that real-science caught up too early to this well-crafted little film, as the idea of a catastrophic tear in the crust was antiquated only five years later in 1970 - when plate tectonics & continental drift showed the crust to be not one rigid whole, but rather a series of plates floating above the mantle.

However - the film is still quite a bit of fun and I hope you enjoy it via the address below! :)
